CEREC One Visit Crowns
CEREC (Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics) is a technology used in dentistry that enables dental professionals to design, produce and place ceramic dental restorations, such as crowns, inlays, and onlays, in a single appointment. The traditional method of crown placement requires at least two appointments and the use of a temporary crown while the permanent crown is fabricated in a dental laboratory. With CEREC, the entire process can be completed in a matter of hours.
The CEREC process begins with the dentist preparing the damaged tooth by removing any decay or damage. Then, a digital impression of the tooth is taken using a special camera that captures a three-dimensional image. This image is used by the CEREC computer software to design the crown, taking into account the shape, size, and color of the surrounding teeth to ensure a natural-looking restoration. The design is then sent to a milling machine, which carves the crown out of a block of high-quality ceramic material.
Once the crown has been milled, it is carefully fitted onto the prepared tooth and any necessary adjustments are made. The crown is then bonded into place using dental cement. The result is a strong, durable, and natural-looking restoration that can last for many years with proper care and maintenance. CEREC crowns offer numerous advantages over traditional crowns, including reduced treatment time, increased comfort and convenience, and superior esthetics.
